GAUCHO

As if often the case with remote destinations, the landscapes are awe-inspiring but it’s the people who leave the deepest impression.

This project is provides an intimate look at the Gauchos of the Baguales region of Chilean Patagonia outside Torres del Paine National Park.

Victor and Ricardo have been roaming this land for their whole lives and while the outside world spins madly on to their north, their way of life has changed remarkably little. Horses remain the fastest and most efficient mode of travel, dogs aren’t pets but rather indispensable partners, heat comes from wood fires, and each day is shaped by the weather and seasons,

These photographs explore the connection between people and place, where traditional ways of life continue to unfold beneath some of the world's most dramatic mountains.
